The family source confirmed to this paper on Tuesday, January 24, that Dembo but commonly called Touray Darboe has been released from state custody of Mile 2 after  9 months of detention without trial.

His younger brother Balla Darboe while talking to this reporter said they have picked Mr. Darboe from Mile 2 prisons. He said he learnt that his brother was transferred by the national intelligence operatives to the state’s central prison last June after already spending 2 months (from April to June) in the NIA custody. He said during his detention at Mile 2, none of the family members even knew he was at Mile 2 prison much more to access him.

It could be recalled that Touray Darboe was said to have been arrested by two NIA officers at his residence in Kafuta, in Kombo East, West Coast Region, on the 16th April, 2016. This was the same day the leadership of the United Democratic Party (UDP), including the leader lawyer Ousainou Darboe, were arrested for conducting a peaceful demonstration to demand for Solo Sandeng to be produced either dead or alive who was later confirmed to be killed during detention on the 13th April.

However, the family informed this medium that their loved one was in his home village at the time of the 14 and 16 April incidents and had not taken part in any of them. Both his mother and wife spoke to this reporter immediately after his arrest, expressing their concern regarding his state of mental health as he is said to be vulnerable to a relapse if he does not take his medication.
