THE POLITICAL CLIMATE SHOULD BE ACCOMODATING TO ALL POLITICAL PARTIES

60

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) should liaise with the IEC to find out the role of the police in elections administration   and then organise training programmes for police officers in such matters to avoid friction with political parties. The IGP should further equip the administration with adequate facilities to enable them to issue permits on time. Political party members also have freedom of movement and association. The IGP should ensure that the exercise of such freedom within the law is not impeded or obstructed in anyway. Political parties which need solidarity from other parties have the option to call for the convening of a meeting of the interparty committee to address their concerns. Foroyaa will follow the relation between the law enforcement officers and the political parties and point out any breaches of the contract to enforce the law without favour or ill will.]]>
