This often results in spending some nights in Senegal before getting an aircraft coming to the Gambia or going elsewhere in the Sub-region. This has increased the cost an inconvenience of air travel to and from the Gambia. It is amazing that after 50 years of Nationhood the country cannot boast of a reliable national aircraft which shuttles between Gambia and Senegal which is just 30 minutes flight time. Many countries have aircraft shuttling internally to speed up travel. The Gambia is struggling for a speedy way of linking with the international community. Efficient transportation and communication networks are indispensable to any country which is aiming for an economic super power status.
