The National Assembly is expected to receive the estimates on the budget of the 2020 financial year. The priority areas need to be identified and monitored in the budget preparation process. How much is to be spent on health, education, agriculture and infrastructure would be evident. National Assembly members will have the duty to scrutinize the priority areas to ensure that the budget goes to serve the public interest. Foroyaa will monitor the size of the budget, the debt portfolio and the areas of concentration of resources to be able to gauge whether it is pro-poor.
