The popular Super Nawettan (local football) championship organised by the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) will wrap up this weekend as this Friday and Saturday are stated for the third place and the final respectively.
Losing semifinalists Serekunda East and Sanyang will play the third place on Friday, while Bakau and Serekunda West will play the final on Saturday to cap off the competition.
Serekunda West defeated their neighbours Serekunda East to book a place in the final following a barren draw after regulation time and won through penalty shootouts which ended 4-2.
Bakau on the other hand reached the final after beating Sanyang 1-0 courtesy of Omar Jarju’s goal in the 54th minute.
The win ended Bakau’s eight-year-wait to feature in the zonal final after their loss to Serrekunda East on penalties (5-4) following a goalless draw in 2014.
The same is also true of Serekunda West who will be playing in the final after seven-year-wait following their triumph in 2015 against Sukuta on penalty shootouts after a goalless draw.
Both games will be played at the Serekunda East Mini Stadium at 4:30 pm and 4 pm respectively.
