Signing of Inter-Party Committee MoU postponed indefinitely

The event scheduled yesterday, Tuesday, 8 November 2016 for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) betweenHalifa Sallah the ruling APRC and opposition parties at the Kairaba Beach Hotel has been postponed indefinitely, according to the Coalition Spokesperson Hon. Halifa Sallah.

“I received a call from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) that the meeting could not be held as planned,” said Sallah. He, however, did not explain why the meeting was postponed.

This medium is also not aware of any reason given as to why the signing ceremony could not take place and also when it would be held.

The signing ceremony, under the aegis of the Inter- Party Committee (IPC), was to have all the parties that are registered with the IEC, including the ruling party, to sign the document that they already agreed upon to govern the inter-party relationship ahead of the presidential election slated for the 1st December, 2016.

According to the information on the dispatched letter to this medium, the President Yahya Jammeh was expected to attend the signing ceremony.
