Magistrage Nche Blessed of the Kanifing magistrate court yesterday 12 April, 2016, announced that 4th May, 2016 will be the judgment day for the obstruction trial involving Mr. Sheikh Cham Vs. the Drug Law Enforcement Agency the Gambia (DLEA-G),.
The matter was slated for addresses and adoption but Prosecutor Jawla applied for an adjournment based on the fact the actual prosecutor in the case was before Magistrate Omar Jabang. He urged the court to grant them an adjournment for the actual prosecutor to come and address the court.
However, there was no objection from Lawyer Banjugu Nyangado, defence Counsel for Mr. Cham. Lawyer Nyangado said they will give time to the prosecution for fair dispensation of justice.
In her ruling, the presiding Magistrate said she had referred herself to the records of the court and that prosecutor Jawla was present before her in 8 sittings. She further expressed surprised about the excuse of prosecutor Jawla that the actual prosecutor in the case was absent.
Magistrate Blessed gave both parties two working days to file their addresses and another two working days for the prosecution to reply on points of law. She ruled that if any party fails to file its address, it will be revoked.
