Uncapped Gambia footballer Seejou King has put final touches to his long proposed transfer to Portuguese second Seejou Kingtier club Despotivo Aves, Fororyaa Sport understands.

The left-back also able to operate at left wing and midfield, agreed terms with  Aves first in principle before undergoing a mandatory medical examination where doctors passed him fit.

Clube Despotivo Aves have no doubt over the Gambian’s potential after he starred thirty-two times for Sporting Lisbon’s reserves. But after breaking his ankle last season Despotivo’s board were unwilling to run a risk of signing a player without checking his vulnerability to injuries.

The 24-year-old, born of Gambian parentage in Denmark, got roughed up from behind while playing Cristiano Ronaldo’s former club Sporting Lisbon and had to leave the pitch on a stretcher in sheer devastation.

The defender joined Sporting reserves from Danish side Nordjaelland but did not get to make a first-team appearance with the A-team.
