Revived Sawaneh Scores Again

Gambian striker Ibou Sawaneh is letting his goals do the talking after scoring in each of his club’s last two sawaneh-scores-againmatches.

Having impressed and grabbed a goal in their previous encounter, Sawaneh won himself place in the starting line up and repaid the coach’s trust in him scoring the opening goal in the 2-1 win over his former club OH Leuven.

Prior to this, the 30-year-old was yet to re-polish his scoring boots having to battle profligacy in front of goal since joining promotion-chasing SVRoeselare this year. His arrival, it was hoped, will ease off the goal burden on rest of the club’s strikers.

Matters, until recently, haven’t played out the way he’d anticipated, finding himself in morass of contending with a place on the bench or fielding in as a bit-part player.

An ill-timed transfer and a poor pre-season could be attributed for the unprepossessing displays.

Sawaneh scored his first of the season October 28th and has gone in 360 minutes without getting on the score sheet until last weekend when he plundered in a brilliant effort to race Roeselare in an early eleven minutes lead.

Such as an impressive outing was followed by another effort last Saturday, tabbing home the opener after thirty minutes ticked in the first-half of a game he started before getting hauled off a minute from time.

SV Roeselare tops the play-off table on eleven points in five games.
