The National Food Security Processing and Marketing Corporation (NFSPMC) said the price for fertilizer was pegged at seven hundred Dalasi per 50 kg bag.
A press release from the Corporation dated 10th June, indicated that the selling points of fertilizer will be at the Corporation’s depots across the country.
“The Corporation wishes to inform the farming community, that the above price is subsidized by the Government of the Gambia and consequently, the sale of the fertilizer will be strictly to Gambian farmers,” the Corporation stated in a press release.
The NFSPMC formerly called the Gambia Groundnut Corporation has taken delivery of eleven thousand (11,000) metric tons of fertilizer comprising 5,500 metric tons of compound fertilizer 15:15:15:+ 4MgO; 4,000 metric tons of compound fertilizer 6:20:10 and 1,500 Metric tons of UREA 46%.
The release stated that for the prudent management of the sales of the fertilizer, NFSPMC has contracted Reliance Financial Services to receive all payments on behalf of the Corporation.
“Therefore, to ensure value for money, farmers are encouraged to pay for the fertilizer at any Reliance Financial Services branch and collect the fertilizer from the Corporation’s depots nearest to them,” the release concludes.
