The spokesperson of the Police Force on Sunday confirmed that two Imams, who were arrested by Police on Friday for leading congregational Friday prayers, have been released on bail.

ASP Lamin Njie said: “We can confirm the arrest of two Imams for leading Friday prayers contrary to the emergency powers regulations. They have been granted bail while Police investigation on the matter continues.”

He added that the arrestees are imam Karamo Camara of Brikama Darsilameh and imam Yusupha Camara of Brikama Sanchaba.

The arrest of the two imams is preceded by the arrest of an imam in Jarra two weeks ago for leading Friday prayers.
