The Deputy Spokesperson of the Gambia Police Force Inspector Alieu Jamanka, on Tuesday 12th July 2022 confirmed the arrest of the murder suspects of both Bafuloto and Tanji to this reporter.

According to Inspector Jamanka, Police in the West Coast Region took into custody a Bafuloto man who is alleged to have stabbed his own brother to death last week, after an argument between them.

“The incident took place in Bafuloto early last week when Edward Nzally (the accused person) had an argument with his brother Yasin Nyally (the victim), and stabbed him to death. Neighbors escorted the victim to the Police station where he (Yasin Nyally) was swiftly escorted to Brikama Health Center and confirmed medically dead,” Inspector Jamanka said; that the accused person went into hiding later on but after a diligent search, officers of the Gambia Police Force were able to locate and arrest him.

Inspector Jamanka said the accused person who confessed to his heinous act, had since been slammed with a single count of murder and will be arraigned in Court in the soonest possible time.

In a similar but separate development, officers of the Gambia Police Force have also arrested one Sajuma Keita, a 30 year old native of the coastal village of Tanji who allegedly stabbed his own father to death and absconded to Senegal. Inspector Jamanka who also confirmed this story to Foroyaa, said the suspect managed to evade Police arrest and fled to Senegal but was arrested with the assistance and cooperation of Senegalese security service officers.

If readers can recall, Tujereng Police mounted an investigation after registering the alleged murder reported by family members of the deceased from Tanji.

“The deceased, an 85-year-old Fally Keita of Tanji, was allegedly stabbed to death by his son Sajuma Keita. Upon commissioning the crime, the accused absconded to Senegal, where he was in hiding,” Inspector Jamanka said; that following a meticulous probe into the matter by GPF detectives, the suspect’s whereabouts was traced in a particular settlement in Dakar, the Senegalese capital.

He has since been cautioned and charged with murder, and is now awaiting arraignment before a competent Court of law,” he said.
