PARENTS OF TWO SOLDIERS STILL IN DETENTION

By Mustapha Jallow Essa Bojang and Fatou Sonko, the father and mother, respectively, of Bakary Bojang and Dawda Bojang, two ex-soldiers, from Mbamkam village in Nuimi, are still held for 15 days following their arrest on 1 January 2015.They are the biological parents of these two former members of the Gambia Armed Forces, who are alleged to have been involved in the 30 December 2014 armed attack on the president’s residence in Banjul. It was reported that the parents of the duo was picked up at their home village of Mbankam in the North Bank Region around 5pm on Thursday, the first day of the New Year, by men in plain clothes who said they were acting on orders from the Officer of the President. Family sources maintained that they do not have access to the two and do not know their whereabouts.]]>
