Justice Simeon A. Abi of the Banjul High Court yesterday 29th April 2015 granted bailPa Malick Ceesay to  Hon. Pa Malick Ceesay and  Ismaila Njie, a sitting National Assembly Member for Lower Saloum Constituency and also erstwhile Coordinator of National Enterprise Development Initiative (NEDI) and the former Accountant, of the entity respectively, in the sum of D800,00 each.

Delivering the ruling on the application for bail in a crowed court room, the trial judge said the applicants must provide two Gambian sureties each who must have a landed property in the like sum, submit a title deed to the Principal Registrar of the high court and an Evaluation Report.

The judge added that each of the applicants must submit their travelling documents to the Principal Registrar and their sureties.

Hon. Ceesay and Mr. Njie were earlier arraigned at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court and charged with seventeen criminal counts ranging from economic crime, abuse of office, negligence of official duty and theft, among others. However, both denied all the charges levelled against them.

However, Principal Magistrate Dawda Jallow denied the duo bail because of the fears raised by the prosecution that the accused persons will escape or tamper with their witnesses.
