By Sulayman Bah Gambia player Omar Colley has been voted his club’s best player byOmar Colley voted fans, Foroyaa Sport can report. Colley featured thirty-two times scoring four goals for KuPS this campaign and the pillar of his club’s defence in his two seasons in Finland. His presence and sometimes switch of roles –shuttling between centre and left-back –and coodination with defensive midfielder fellow country man Ebrima Sohna, is key to KuPS beating the drop this term. Regarded one of the best defenders in the Finnish Premier League, the 22-year-old former Wallidan and Real de Banjul ace was sent off, -his first professional career red card – in KuPS 1-0 defeat to fourth-placed VPS after 54 minutes in the club final league game. However, that isolated incident aside, the left-footed stopper’s performances have not gone unnoticed and over the weekend scooped two individual awards one for the club fans best player of the year and the other from the management and coaches at the club. Omar dubbed OJ, later expressed delight and wrote in appreciation, “Big thanks to the Kups management and loyal supporters for voting me as their fave and player of the year,I can’t express how thankful I am.. I dedicate this trophies to my best half who stood by me when things weren’t going my way and to my friends and family back home #‎iluvyouall#BANZAI” Team-mate Ebrima Sohna won the district player trophy. The two gongs couldn’t have been a better send-off for a player who is to join Swedish top flight outfit Djurgarden IF january next season. Colley sealed a move to Pa Dembo’s former employers after having two bids to switch to the German second tier turned down. Elsewhere in the same league, Sainey Nyassi’s Rops romped a 3-0 win over Demba Savage’s champions HJK on the final league match. Nyassi grabbed the third goal as he and co subjected the capital-based outfit to their fourth league defeat in thirty three matches. Savage got booked in the 48th minute for unsporting behaviour. Demba Savage who is the league third top scorer on eleven goals, three shy of joint leading scorers Emet and Solignac, finished the season topping his club scoring chart and is expected to win HJK’s best scorer and best player awards at the end-of-the-season club awards night, this week.]]>
