OIC Gambia Secretariat Presents Logistics, Consumables to GPF & GID

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Momodou Sowe, representing Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abdoulie Sanyang, presided over the handing over ceremony of valuable items generously donated to The Gambia Police Force (GPF) and the Gambia Immigration Department (GID) by the OIC Secretariat Gambia on Tuesday, 19 December 2023.

The event was held at the Police Headquarters in Banjul. The Secretariat said the material resources given to the two security bodies were worth over half a million dalasi.

The donations include branded traffic cones for mobile traffic, essential office utilities, financial support, food supplies and fuel provisions. The items, according to the beneficiaries, hold significant value in strengthening police operations and addressing operational challenges.

DIG Momodou Sowe expressed gratitude for the timely and generous gesture. He said the donated items were instrumental to the daily functions of both institutions.

Yankuba Dibba, the Chief Executive Officer of OIC Secretariat, underscored the importance of reinforcing the nation’s safety and security. He highlighted the pivotal role played by the Police and the Immigration Department in aligning with the developmental aspirations.

Commissioner of Immigration Ebrima Mboob commended the Secretariat for the donation saying it shows commitment to supporting the enhancement of modern border management through training initiatives. He also called on stakeholders and the public to follow the exemplary lead of the OIC Secretariat in supporting the nation’s security endeavors.
