In China, America and Europe of today no one dares to call another Chinese, American or European a witch. People are living longer lives. Infant mortality and maternal mortality have dropped. In the Gambia because of poor environmental sanitation, nutrition and medical services people are frail and fragile. Many people have been misdirected by propaganda to resort to unofficial sources of treatment. Funerals are becoming rampant and people are wondering why death is consuming both young and old.
The worst crime against humanity is to arrest people, subject them to drinking hallucinogenic drugs and sentence them to death by inhuman and degrading treatment based on the subjective accusation of a so-called witch doctor without any due process of law.
There is no doubt that if any dead body is subjected to autopsy by qualified personnel the cause of death would be known.
Hence those who claim to know how people die should be ready to explain the way the death occurs and autopsy be done to find out the cause of death.
We are now in the 21st Century. All Africans should see their fellow Africans as brothers and sisters who deserve love, respect and care. We need a message promoting solidarity and mutual trust among Gambians and not a message that is promoting division and suspicion.
