QUESTION OF THE DAY
IS THERE A CLASH OR WAR OF CIVILISATION BETWEEN MUSLIMS AND THE WESTERN WORLD?
According to statistics there are between 1.5 to 1.9 Billion Muslims in the World, that is ,23 to 25 percent of the world’s population. Hence, 1 out of every 4 persons in the world professes to be a Muslim.
If there was a clash of civilisations the world would have come to en end. What the people in Europe should bear in mind is that there are many people from Western countries living in peace in countries where those who profess to be muslims are in the majority. There are many Arabs who are Christians. Hence Islam does not wear an Arab face.
Those who take up arms against every body in the name of Islam are exploding bombs in Lebanon, Turkey,France, Pakistan, Nigeria,Mali, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, Thailand, Syria, Iraq and the list goes on. Those who die belong to all religious groups.
There should be no compulsion in religion. He/she who kills another to compel him or her to belong to his or her religion is a plain murderer. He or she who kills another and commits suicide in the name of seeking the gate of heaven should be rightly charged with offering human sacrifice as a gate way to heaven.
There is no clash of civilizations. Humankind irrespective of origin,colour, gender, nationality, religion or creed deserve to live in liberty, dignity and prosperity. They deserve good food, housing, clothing under a climate of good neighbourliness.
The non- muslims in the world should call a spade a spade.Those who kill innocent people without having the slightest chance of taking over power in a country to impose a religion should not be called Jihadists. They are senseless killers without a cause bent on discrediting themselves.
African youths should know how Africans have suffered and should take responsibility for healing her wounds by building societies that would be shining examples of multiculturalism, religious tolerance,solidarity, liberty dignity and prosperity for all.
