The alleged abuse of office trial involving Dr. Njogu L. Bah, the former Secretary 
General, Head of the Civil Service and Presidential Affairs Minister, was adjourned yesterday, 27 January, due to the absence of his defence attorney, Lamin Mboge.
Prior to the adjournment of the matter till the 4th of February by Principal Magistrate Dawda Jallow of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court , Dr. Bah told the court that his lawyer had informed him that he was at the High Court and appealed the magistrate to stand down the case temporarily to enable his lawyer to appear in court later.
State Counsel, Abdourahman Bah, did not object to the application solicited by the accused.
Ruling on the request to stand down the case, the trial magistrate indicated that he was not feeling well. He said he has been waiting for the matter to proceed but since the defence counsel was absent, he has adjourned the matter.
Dr. Bah is alleged to have abused the authority of his office as Secretary General and Head of Civil Service in the month of January, 2013 by interfering with the recommendation and posting of Ms. Jainaba Jobarteh to the Gambia’s Permanent Mission at the United Nations in New York, without following the proper procedure of nomination
