By Mustapha Jallow ASP David Kujabi, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Gambia Police Force (GPF), ASP David Kujabibabiessaid the matter of the 6 bodies exhumed near the mortuary at the Serekunda General Hospital is presently under police investigation. He made the disclosure to this reporter in his office at Police Headquarters in Banjul yesterday, 27 January, 2015. Late last year, 10 December 2014, to be precise, the Foroyaa had reported about the incident of the remains of toddlers that were exhumed at a site behind the mortuary at the Serrekunda General Hospital. These said remains were initially kept at the mortuary before being finally collected in a government 4 wheel pick up vehicle and taken away without police escort for burial. It was also reported that that the workers at the mortuary of the Serekunda General Hospital were invited by the Kanifing police on Wednesday, 17 December, 2014 to give their statements on the matter as the body remains were said to have been exhumed at a site within perimeters of the hospital. When the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SK Hospital was approached on the issue, he indicated that they are not responsible for the unidentified bodies and directed this reporter to the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC). The KMC CEO, however, told this reporter that it is only the mayor who can respond to such an issue by virtue of his position as the chairperson of the hospital board.  ]]>
