PIA to Hold National Expedition and Youth Camp

The President International Award Scheme (PIA) will be organising a National Expedition and Youth Camp scheduled to take place from the 17 – 23 August, 2016. The event will be held at Fatima Senior Secondary School in Bwiam, West Coast Region (WCR).

Dr. Lamin Bolonding Bojang, the leader of the National Convention Party (NCP), told Foroyaa that there should be a caretaker Dr. Lamin Bolonding Bojanggovernment to lead a coalition for just 3 months in order to avoid one opposition party entrenching itself in power.

The NCP leader said this during an interview at his residence in Brikama on Wednesday, 10th August, 2016 in response to the demand for an opposition coalition being made  by the young people ahead of December 1st presidential election.

APRC Kanifing Bureau Burnt

The main political bureau of the ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), situated at Kanifing South,Burnt APRC bureau in Kanifing South was allegedly set on fire by unknown mask men in  the early hours of Sunday, 14 August 2016.

According to a source, the alleged arsonists entered the bureau and tied up the security men who were on duty before setting the place on fire.

The former nominated National Assembly Member (NAM), Madam Tina Faal, who was earlier arraigned and granted court bail onTINA FAAL 1 August, was re-arrested on Monday, 8 August, 2016, and held at the Mile Two prison for 8 days as of today.

Her court case before Principal Magistrate Omar Cham of the lower court in Banjul has been unable to proceed both on the 10 and 11 August 2016 due to the reported ill health of the trial magistrate, according to a family source.

First the Minister of Higher Education was removed. Before the July 22 anniversary which witnessed awards for recitations he was made Minister of Religious Affairs. When the anniversary was in full bloom he was again made Minister of Higher Education while retaining the portfolio of religious affairs. We are still struggling to understand what is leading the executive to be making these contradictory decisions. It certainly does not appear logical to us.

Abdou Jammeh commonly known as Anabi, a prison officer and a native of Kanilai, has gone missing for eight now months now.
Serreh Jarjue, the wife of Mr. Jammeh and the mother of their three children, told Foroyaa that her husband left home on a Tuesday in January, this year, to go to work at Mile Two prison on an afternoon shift but never returned home.

Justice Ogar Edward Eneji, the vacation judge at the Banjul High court has yesterday 11 August,  2016 adjourned the bail Mrs. Sirra Wally Ndow-Njieapplication of the remanded sick erstwhile Minister of Petroleum Mrs. Sira Wally Ndow-Njai and two other officials of Gambia National Petroleum Company (GNPC) till 22 August 2016 for adoption.
The other two other officials are Mr. Noah Touray, former Secretary to cabinet and Momodou O S Badjie, former Managing Director of GNPC.
