NC wraps up tour as election momentum fires up

The NC headed by Alagie Sillah, the chairman, toured the various regions in a bid to discuss issues hampering the country’s football. However, the tour which took the form of a five-day face-to face interaction with football stakeholders, has all but wrapped up clearing the path towards election period. September 20th (next month) is the rescheduled date for the elections as the initial September 15 set by FIFA was changed. Nominations have been opened for aspiring candidates. Stakeholders have been locked in negotiations for over a month in a bid to select a united leadership between the Modou Musa and Mustapha Kebbehs’ camps. The two are perceived as the only runners for the GFF presidency. The purpose of the talks, it is said, is to avert the eventual creation of warring factions which will be a recipe for unending hassles dogging the country’s dominant sport. Last week Thursday was picked as day to announce the selection of a single flag-bearer who would later be unveiled to the press before a last-gasp change in venue dramatically turned things around. It is still not known as to what caused the postponement. Up to the time of going to press, a unified candidate was yet to be settled on. But despite the deadlock which could likely end this week, according to a source, the atmosphere still remains charged up.]]>
