NA Standing Committee on Defence, Security Meets with IGP

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defence and Security led by Deputy Speaker Seedy Njie has visited the Inspector General of Police Seedy MukhtarTouray, at Police Headquarter in Banjul on Tuesday, 7May 2024.

The purpose of the Committee’s visit to IGP Touray’s office was to carry out their oversight duties, strengthen collaboration and assess the current state affairs of the national security forces. 

IGP Touray, in his remark before members of the said Committee,expressed gratitude to the honourable members for visiting him and the Gambia Police Force in general.He expressed delight for the committee’s recognition of The Gambian Police Force’s achievements at the recently concluded OIC Summit. 

The deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Seedy Njie recognized the efforts of the Gambia Police Force during the recently concluded OIC Summit, adding that they have done a good job in ensuring that there was enough security during the Summit.  

The Inspector General of Police and members of the NA Standing Committee on Defence and Security discussed the challenges and strategies of how to improve security in The Gambia.
