By Kebba Jeffang Foroyaa has confirmed from family sources that Mr. Bai Jobe Njie, the father of an ex-military officer of the Gambia Armed Forces who was said to be part of the insurgents that attacked the Presidential palace was picked up on Friday morning by two plain clothed officers from his residence in Tallinding Dumos. The source who is a family member said the father is a driver at the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) and was arrested on early Friday morning (just after midnight) 2 January, 2015 by two officers who indicated that they are from the office of the President. “They came with numberless pick-up vehicle. We don’t know why he was arrested and since then we didn’t see, hear or know his whereabouts. We are very much desperate at this level,” the source added. Bai Jobe Njie is reported to have a son living in Germany named Modou Njie who was a soldier that served the Gambia Armed Forces. The source explained that they are not sure whether the arrest has anything to do with his son. They are requesting for the intervention of the authorities.]]>
