Must Read

August 22: Media Agenda will today commence implementation of its U.S. Embassy funded voter education project ahead of the presidential elections. From August 22 to 30, we will build the capacity of at least hundred Gambian JOURNALISTS working in both print and electronic media organizations, including community radio stations.

Today’s workshop at TANGO focuses on message development, equipping the participants with skills and tools to be able to craft sharp and appropriate voter education messages, which will be used in radio broadcasts and newspaper publications over the election period.

This will be followed by an orientation workshop at the same venue, and another orientation workshop for community radio stations at Transgambia lodge on 29th August 2016.

The overall objective of the project is to increase civic engagements, improve voter education and promote peaceful conduct of the upcoming national electoral cycle of presidential and parliamentary elections.

In December 2015, Media Agenda engaged 50 radio journalists in a week long training on media independence & pluralism, and development of community media.

Media Agenda has a wealth of experience in media development and trainings. Since its establishment in November 2006, Media Agenda implemented numerous media training and consultancies.

In 2007 National Commission for UNESCO NAT-COM supported and funded Media Agenda and over 200 hundred journalists were trained within a 3 month period for various categories in journalism.

In 2008 we did implement training for 12 Human Rights journalists with participants drawn from all sectors of the media in the Gambia.

In 2009 the US embassy in collaboration with the UK embassy supported and funded the training of a dozen civil and security personals on media /security relations.

Media Agenda is currently collaborated with Insight Training Centre and established a school of journalism where certificate and diploma courses are taught.
