LEKET PICKS GOLD IN PRIZE FIGHT

Amid the cacophony, Gambia’s national team captain Leket was tossed by jubilant fans after winning the prize Lekett Bu Barramoney for the 86kg wrestling category.

Staged by Burr Promotion, the first organised contest for a newly licensed wrestling promotion agency, Leket breezed his way into the quarters then through to the semis before savaging Abo Sarr of Club Old Jeshwang in a mbapat final lasting one minute twenty-seconds.

Leket, who is yet to taste defeat since resurrection of Gambia wrestling, mauled Autorai, Dollar on road to the final round to pocket D35,000.

In the 100 kilos, Club Bakau of Lass Perr got the better of Flex in additional time to grab the D40, 000 staked prize. Runner up Flex went home with a D20, 000 consolation prize.

Last weekend’s contests was witnessed by a flurry fans, with a total package for prizes hitting up to a combined D200, 000, the fattest of any prize in the arena of recent.
