IS THERE QUALITY CONTROL OF FOOD?

106

The growth in cases of liver cancer confirms the need for quality control of the food we eat. It is not uncommon to find tubers being kept in water, dry nuts being soaked, mouldy parts being plugged from potatoes which are then sold.

People generally do not know that mouldy food items are not fit for human consumption. Many people are dying today because of this. There is need for nationwide sensitization on the causes of liver cancer and how food should be preserved to prevent them from being mouldy. If we fail in this fight, many Gambians will die untimely deaths.
