Foroyaa has received reports of a new case of acute kidney injury (AKI) in Tanji.

In July last year cases of acute kidney injury among children were reported in The Gambia and deaths of children numbering at least 70 was acknowledged by the government. The deaths were reportedly linked to four kinds of syrup imported from India.

A campaign was launched to recover the drugs from the pharmacies, drug stores and the public, but there was no report on how successful the campaign was.

Foroyaa will get in touch with the authorities to verify the information, what gave rise to illness and the outcome of the campaign to recover the banned drugs.
