Gambia international Ibou Sawaneh will definitely not kick a ball again for the rest of 2015 after injuring his right knee cartilage, Foroyaa Sport can report.
The striker sustained the abrasion while on an outing for his Pro league club Waasland Beveren. Sawaneh watched his 2015 season go in tatters after picking up an injury prior to start of the new league having had a splendid pre-season.
Perhaps those were warning signals of what would later come to rule him out for remainder of the year. The 29-year-old forward is billed to go under the knife to correct his knee and is consequently not tipped to return to the pitch till four to three months later.
Sawaneh’s correction procedure, this paper understands, will be carried out at AZ Monica in Deurne.
Ibou Sawaneh was recently offered a recall to the Gambia national team after a near three-year absence but couldn’t make the tie against Cameroon due to a late knock he had.
