QUESTION OF THE DAY
The text of a constitution has never been officially translated into the national languages and the CRC would have made history if it mobilised people who have the competence to translate the constitution into the other languages aside from the official language. It is therefore important for the CRC to mobilise its national language specialists and engage the National Council for Civic Education to translate the draft constitution so that ordinary Gambians would know what is being proposed.
This would have enabled them to know the content and thus come up with informed opinion on the draft constitution. At the moment, the general population is at the mercy of those who are trying to interpret what is written in English.
