Hamza Barry is proving an irreplaceable presence in Croatian side Hadjul Split’s midfield raking up 597 minuteshamza of football.

The Gambia international was on score sheet for his first league goal producing a brilliant volley after a cross from the left in the box which turned match-winner in the slender 1-0 victory over Lokomotiva Zagreb.

The 22-year-old then ran to the fringes with a punch-in-the-air celebration. And quizzed as to how he’d so quickly settled in to a squad strongly littered with talent, the ex- Gambia Ports Authority man  said: ‘I really got a chance. The coach trusts me and believes in me, and I have to do is repay his confidence by playing good games for the team’

However despite a near splendid performance, the 2013 Maltese title winner believes there’s still room for improvement in his game

‘There’s always room for improvement. We want to make progress everyday, I hope to see that in the field’

Split hosts fourth-placed Inter Zapresic this coming Sunday with a win to see them climb up second depending on outcome of second-placed Osijek’s next game schedule.
