GRA’s Board Chair calls Management to uphold Gov’t Programs

The Board Chairperson of the Gambia Revenue Authority GRA, Madam Lucy Fye –Jagne has strongly challenged the staff and Management of Revenue Authority to champion Government programs in accordance with its mandate.

She made this declaration on a recent interview with reporters at the GRA headquarter in Banjul. 

She confirmed that 2020- 2021 despite the global pandemic challenges, GRA has been able to perform relatively well in revenue collection thus, described this development as commendable.

 She acknowledged GRA’s outstanding performance over the years due to excellent leadership of the Commissioner General (Yankuba Darboe) has been providing to the entire management of GRA.

“There is a lot of efforts and reforms undertaken and commitment that GRA have been diligently making sure that tax administration is perfected to increase revenue performance and collection. As a result of that, there has been 10 percent growth on revenue collection over 2020 performance”. She profoundly stated.

Madam Fay-Jagne revealed that the secret behind some of the successes GRA registered was due to commitment of their staff added that the secret is nothing but excellent leadership, teamwork and commitment.

“The set percentage target for GRA to perform well is at 14.5% to 15% of GDP ratio, and GRA has been meeting its target over the years and is great work”. Shye confirmed.  

Therefore, Board Chair challenged the management of GRA to continue the good work, commitment and to endeavour to champion government programs and perform in its mandate.

She affirmed that GRA will continue to raise the bar to an international standard and ensure meeting Government target on yearly basis and we will stand to make sure that the government to reach its special goal in development projects.
