The Gambia Police Force (GPF) yesterday announced on their Facebook Page that they have received a high-powered delegation led by General Yusuf Aslan, head of the Turkish Gendarmerie Special Forces, on a working visit to the Gambia.
The General’s visit includes meetings with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdoulie Sanyang. Additionally, they will visit the Police Intervention Units Headquarters (PIU) in Kanifing and the Police Training School in Banjulunding.
The statement added that the Turkish General’s visit aims to provide specialist training for officers of the Gambia Police Force, enhancing the capabilities of various units within the force, following a response to IGP Sanyang’s visit earlier this year.
During that visit, a request was made for the Turkish Gendarmerie to assist the Gambia Police Force in providing training and other logistical support. This particular team consists of both an assessment and a training team.
