The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Security in a press release, announced on Tuesday, 11 June 2024 that it will sell a bag of fertilizer to farmers this year for one thousand and one hundred Dalasi only (D1100).
Compared to the price last year, the government this year reduced the price of fertilizer by fifty dalasi (D50) as it was sold at one thousand, one hundred and fifty dalasi in 2023.
“This reduction is an additional subsidy of about 24 million on the total stock on top of the 50% subsidy accorded last year on this important input,” the release indicated.
The ministry informed farmers that the total number of bags available for 2024/2025 is Five Hundred and Seventy-nine Thousand (579,000), equivalent to 28, 000 metric tons.
It further added that the fertiliser currently in stock is Four Hundred and Seventy-Nine Thousand (479,000) bags which is 23, 000 metric tons, and that One Hundred Thousand (100,000) bags are expected within the next 30 days.
