Boxer Patrick Mendy from Gambia is the newly crowned World Boxing
Foundation (WBF) middleweight division champion.
24-year-old Mendy secured the belt after shoving off stiff competition
from Robert Swierzbinksi in Poland. Mendy who now resides in
Maidenhead in the United Kingdom thrashed his Polish opponent onpoints after all three judges ruled in the Gambian’s favour.
The erstwhile prize-money fighter champion cut a domineering figure
over his ring adversary despite going with an inexperienced corner
trainer.
Dubbed ‘Tiger’, Patrick’s new height means the days of being
overlooked as a light feather has past and he’ll be able to take on
Britain and Europe’s top ring starlets with sponsorship and proper
agents on his side.
The new World Boxing Foundation champion will be eying to improve upon
his sixteen victories (one KO) eight defeats and one draw from
twenty-five fights.]]>
