Gambia made its biggest leap under coach jumping 13 positions in a latest positive development regarding the Scorpions.

The Scorpions moved from 179 to become the world’s 166th best ranked national team affiliated to FIFA with 120 points. The ascension also reflected in the team’s position in Africa as Gambia is now the continent’s 49th most ranked outfit.

The development followed test games played recently in which the scorpions lost to Morocco but beat the Central African Republic in March. In the same month, a hastily arranged local-based Gambian outfit also drew Morocco’s U-23s before beating them in a double-legged fixture.

The victory against CAR marked Sang Ndong’s first win in six attempts.

Egypt leads the way in Africa with Senegal second and Nations Cup winners Cameroon slipping a step below after recently losing to Guinea Conakry in a test game held in Brussels.

Brazil sits atop on the globe with Argentina, Germany, Chile, Colombia and France at 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.
