The Gambia Hotel Association (GHA) while paying a courtesy call on President-Elect Adama Barrow at Kairaba Hotel on barrow-with-gha-officialsTuesday, 27th December, 2016 to express appreciation, indicated their readiness to work with the Coalition Government.

Mr. Bunama Njie, the vice chair of the association, congratulated the President-Elect on his landslide victory, adding “there would be need therefore for the incoming administration to look closely at the Gambia Tourism Board, its management as well as its modus operandi.”

Mr. Njie said “this will render the institution as the implementing agency for the tourism policies; and programmes, more professionally and efficiently for effective service delivery to the tourism industry as well as establish a robust marketing strategy that would ensure an increase in tourist numbers and attract high spenders.”

He said their first visit is simply a courtesy call, noting that the tourism fraternity anticipates discussing with the new government the burning issues confronting the tourism sector at a more appropriate time.

He assured that the tourism fraternity stands ready to work with the new administration in a spirit of dialogue and rekindled enthusiasm to address the numerous challenges facing the sector and to work hard in making “The Smiling Coast” the most sought after destination in Africa.

Mr. Adama Barrow, the President-elect, in response assured GHA of his government’s support to the tourism sector, adding that tourism is among its priorities once they start functioning after his inauguration.
