The army spokesperson has Sunday confirmed the arrest and detention of two soldiers.

He remarked: “The two were arrested by Military Police. Corporal Conteh was picked-up on 9th April, while Corporal Saidyfaye was also arrested on 10th April.”

According to Major Lamin K. Sanyang, the arrest of Corporal Sarjo Conteh and Corporal Ismaila Saidyfaye was in relation with missing fuel coupons worth over D300,000.00.

He added that the said soldiers are currently in the custody of the military police helping them in their investigation.

In a related development, the missing of fuel coupons at the defence headquarters had led to the arrest of military guards on 8th April 2020.

The arrested soldiers include a soldier at the communication unit and a soldier at the clerk room.
