The Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) of the National Assembly, yesterday 7th February 2023, ordered members of the Mansakonko Area Council (MKAC), to re-submit their activity report and financial statements for the years ended 2019 and 2020. The committee came up with above decision during the consideration of the reports of the said council.

Conveying the decision to council officials, Alhagie S. Darboe, the Chairperson of FPAC, informed them that the committee has resolved for them to return and re-do and re-submit their financial statements and activity report as well. He told them that the committee has agreed for them to make a new adjustment on the areas indicated but a balance sheet was also not available to this effect.

“There is no comparative reporting and the variances on the trial balance are issues that we feel you should adjust, likewise what other auditors queried as well,” Hon. Darboe said.

He also told the council that the opening balance issue on the activity report was somehow confusing and this is something that is very relevant to the committee for scrutiny and consideration. He therefore told them that what the committee wants their council to do is to reconcile and come up with one document that will reflect the substantial report on the Mansakonko Area Council for 2019.

The committee then gave the council until the 7th of April 2023, to reappear and submit their activity reports and financial statements.
