Former President Sall’s stalwart Diakhate, Imam Ndao sentenced to 3 months

The Court of Dakar has sentenced former ruling Alliance for the Republic’s staunch supporter, Bah Diakhate and Imam Ndao to three (3) months in prison for disseminating false news.

The court’s verdict comes after the accused persons were heard on May 27.

The judge delivered his verdict today, sentencing the two accused to a three-month prison sentence, accompanied by a fine of 100,000 FCFA each for disseminating false news, according to reports.

The two men were accused of spreading false news and insulting a person occupying a position comparable to that of the head of state. Their appearance before the judge was marked by their denial of the accusations against them.

During their last hearing, Bah Diakhate and Imam Ndao maintained their position, categorically denying the charges with which they were accused. The two defendants were acquitted of charges of offenses against the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko.
