Momodou Jallow, a Dockworker at GPA, who sustained a fracture on the left thigh after being hit by a container in October 1999, 
is appealing for assistance. Mr. Jallow is practically disabled i.e 15% disabled, according to a Medical Board report from the EFSTH.
Jallow was admitted at the Edward Francis Small teaching Hospital (then RVTH) and discharged after 3 months (January 2000). Since then, he has been pushing the GPA for workplace injury compensation but to no avail. He has been at the labour department and ombudsman but without any breakthrough. He is now without regular income for his sustenance. He depends on a very meager income from the production of framed mirrors and ludo games which he sells around Serekunda and vicinity. According to Jallow, he has six children who are in grades 7, 9 and 10 but are now dropouts because of lack of means to pay their school fees and other educational needs. The father of six said he is in dire need of help to be able to engage in a sustainable enterprise for his survival. He started working at GPA 1981 and has stopped working since 1999 when he sustained the injury and has since been struggling for the survival of his family.
