By Alhagie F.S. Sora The disbanded Gambia Public Transport Corporation (G.P.T.C) staff who are being paid their benefits starting Friday 26 September, are said to have received their dues yesterday 30 September 2014, at the Ministry of Works along M.D.I road in Kanifing. This reporter visited the said Ministry yesterday around mid day when payment was in progress. Speaking to some of the former GPTC staff who already received their benefits, they said they are only paid six (6) months in lieu of notice.  “They only paid us 6 months notice, the rest of our money such as credit union and social security are what is left unpaid,” said a former staff. According to them, after receiving this payment they will follow up the rest of their money at credit union and SSHFC. “We were told that deduction has been made and paid to social security, but we are also not given any social security card during that time,” lamented the former staff of the defunct GPTC. Meanwhile, as payment was in progress this reporter made efforts to confirm the story from the ministry of works, but the Permanent Secretary, Momodou Camara, was said to be out of office at the time. Efforts were further made through phone call, but the Permanent Secretary was said to be attending a workshop which would last for a week. Foroyaa will make further efforts to reach the ministry to shed light on the matter.]]>
