By Muhammad Bah Mr. Sait Fanta Jagne, a former employee of the Standard Chartered Bank has appealed against the decision of the high court sitting in its appellate jurisdiction. The Banjul Industrial Tribunal had on 23 July 2013, ordered the Bank (the defendant) to pay Mr Sait Fanta Jagne (the plaintiff) one million dalasi for malicious prosecution of the plaintiff by the defendant, one million dalasi for damages to the plaintiff’s reputation and half a million dalasis general damages for the unnecessary hardship suffered by the plaintiffs. In addition the Bank was to pay fifty thousand dalasis as costs. But when the Bank appealed at the High Court, on 25 February 2014, the court set aside the judgment of the industrial tribunal. Mr Jagne then appealed to the Court of Appeal and appeared before this court on Monday 19th January 2015. When the case was called in court, lawyer Abdoulie Sisoho appeared for the appellant, Mr Jagne while the bank was not represented, apparently because it was not served. Three judges headed by Justice Fagbenle constituted the panel of the Court of Appeal. The case was adjourned till next month, 9 February 2015. ]]>
