DLEA-G Nabs 16 for Allegedly Possessing Illicit Drugs

The Public Relations Officer of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency-The Gambia (DLEA-G), Mr. OusmanSaidyba, has informed this medium that his agency arrested sixteen people for possessing illicit drugs.

According to PRO Saidybah, 20-year-old Ansumana Faye from Madiana village in the West Coast Region was arrested at Brikama Nyambai by agents of Brikama DLEA-G station on the 28 June 2024, with one bundle of suspected cannabis sativa which he concealed in cement papers, and with a red motorcycle without a registration number.

PRO Saidyba said 29-year-old Buba Jammeh from Illiassa village in the North Bank Region, was arrested by agents of Farafenni DLEA-G station on the 27 of June 2024, with one parcel of suspected cannabis sativa which he concealed in white paper inside his black sock. He continued that 28-year-old Ablie Jallow and 45-year-old Amadou Jallow, both residents of Talliya village in the North Bank Region, were arrested by agents of Farafenni DLEA-G station on the 27th of June 2024, with two big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in cement paper and a multi-colored bag respectively. He added that 21-year-old Mustapha Barry from Serrekunda who is also a business person, was arrested by agents of Serrekunda DLEA-G station on the 27 of June 2024, with sixty-five wraps of suspected ‘kush’ which was concealed in white paper. He said 22-year-old Sulayman Koroma, a Sierra Leonean national residing in Brusubi, was arrested by agents of Brusubi DLEA-G station on the 28th of June 2024, with fourteen sachets of suspected ‘kush’ which he concealed in medical sachets, placing them inside a multi-colored bag.

“Nuha Colley, a resident of Ndemban village was arrested at Brikama Car park by agents of Brikama DLEA-G station on the 29th of June 2024, with four bundles of suspected cannabis sativa, concealed in cement paper, and put inside a white and blue bag containing groundnut hay. 38-year-old Sulayman Manneh from Banjul and driver by profession, was arrested by officers of Banjul DLEA-G station on the 29th of June 2024, with four wraps of suspected ‘kush’ which he concealed in white papers,” PRO Saidybah said. 

He continued that 38-year-old Lamin Fatty from Banjul, a driver by profession, was also arrested by agents of Banjul DLEA-G station on the 29 of June 2024 with thirteen wraps of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in white paper and put in a red and black plastic bag respectively.

“22-year-old Justin Colley from Kotu, an electrician by profession, was arrested by agents of Manjai DLEA-G station on the 30th of June 2024, with fourteen wraps of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in a white paper and placed in a black bag,” he stated. 

He said 21-year-old Sarjo Susso from Old Yundum was arrested by agents of New Yundum DLEA-G station on the 29 of June 2024, with thirty-nine wraps of suspected cannabis resin (hashish) which was concealed in a white nylon bag and placed in a green metal box respectively.

“22-year-old Ebrima Fatty from Tanji was also arrested by agents of Sanyang DLEA-G station on the 30th of June 2024, with twenty-five wraps of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in a black thrash bag,” he said; adding that 28-year-old Sheriffo Sanneh from Lamin was also arrested by agents of Wellingara DLEA-G station on the 29 of June 2024, with eight wraps of suspected ‘kush’ which was concealed in a white paper, and placed in a plastic cup.

According to PRO Saidybah, all the suspects are currently in custody while further investigations continue into their cases.
