COVID-19: Gambia Records 9 New Cases

The Gambia on Wednesday, 22 December registered nine new cases of the deadly coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases to ten thousand and eighty-seven (1087).

Gambia’s health officials reported that no new COVID-19 related death was registered. Thus, pegging the death toll at three hundred and forty-two.

They reported that the positivity test rate of the newly confirmed cases is 0.24% and no COVID-19 patient is currently on oxygen therapy.

“Five cases were discharged after at least 10 days from the day they tested positive and no patient evaded institutional isolation centers or COVID-19 treatment centres.”

“This is the 411th national situation report since the confirmation of the first case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in The Gambia, on the 16th March 2020.

“As of 19th December 2021, the following number of people have been vaccinated with: Johnson & Johnson: Only 1 dose: 199,920, Sinopharm: Dose 1: 4,500, Dose 2: 3,315, and AstraZeneca: Dose 1: 40,661, Dose 2: 27, 880,” they reported.
