QUESTION OF THE DAY
Out of fifty-three constituencies, two female independent candidates and one UDP candidate managed to win by popular vote. Three party candidates were elected in 2017.
It is very clear that the number of female representatives in the National Assembly has not changed. Hence the country should go back to the drawing board as we come up with a new Constitution as we find out what has gone wrong and what ought to be done to ensure at least one-third of female representation in the National Assembly.
