Champions Real however lead on goal difference despite being held to goalless draw by capital nemesis Wallidan. Both teams need to avoid dropping points in the remaining three fixtures to clinch the league gong. Bombada FC managed to beat Interior to move to fourth on the table whilst Bakau United languish at bottom of the table after settling for 0-0 stalemate affair with Gambia Armed Forces FC. Earlier Brikama United bounced back from a 4-0 defeat to Gambia ports Authority to beat Banjul United 3-2. The victory places the West Coast Region-based outfit to third behind Real de Banjul and Gamtel. It was the best of confidence-restoring match gaffer Sulayman Kuyateh’s charges would have asked for after getting drubbed the week before. Brikama last won the league title in 2011 and the points picked over the weekend sees the club back in contention for the silverware following that blip. Elsewhere Gamtel extended their lead at the top following a labored 1-0 slender win over second-from-bottom Serrekunda United. United will undoubtedly get fans’ hopes for the club to retain its top flight status down after the lost with the league’s end drawing ever close.
