The official campaign period started yesterday and all candidates are now criss-crossing the country trying to win the hearts and minds of the electorate.
What is significant is that the campaign is not on the whole characterized by insults and character assassinations but in the main by arguments as to who can best serve as president.
The APRC is defending its records while the two other candidates are saying those records leave much to be desired and call for the electorate to vote out the president and replace him.
The electorate will decide on 1 December. Power resides in the people.
Needless to say, what must be borne in mind is that the voter makes an informed choice and avoids voting on the basis of sentiments.
