The trial involving Sheikh Muhideen Hydara and Buyeh Touray, the Caliph General
and the former Alkalo, respectively, of Darsilami Sangajor, Foni Kansala, West Coast Region is set for judgment on Wednesday, 27 May 2015, after the prosecution announced that it will not reply to the address submitted by the defence.
This information was revealed at Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 18th May, 2015 before Magistrate Ebrima Jaiteh.
When the matter was called, Chief Inspector Camara represented the state whilst Lawyers Antouman Gaye and Lamin K. Mboge appeared for the accused persons.
At this juncture, the police prosecutor rose to inform the court that they do not have any intention to address the court following the submission of the defence’s oral address last week Monday.
He told the Court that they have no objection to the address made by the other party but will rather rely on their evidence before the court.
The trial magistrate therefore announced the adjournment of the case for judgment.
It could be recalled that the duo was charged with two counts of ‘Disobedience to lawful orders’ and ‘Conspiracy to commit misdemeanor’. Both accused persons, however, deny the two charges.
The duo was arraigned after they have spent three nights in detention at various police stations.
The case commenced since August last year and was before four different magistrates, namely, Dayoh M. Small Dago, Serending Sanneh, Omar Cham and now Ebrima Jaiteh.
