Bakau Zonal team has reached the final of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Super Nawettan after beating Sanyang 1-0 courtesy of Omar Jarju’s goal in the 54th minute of the game on Monday.
Played at the Brikama’s Box Bar Mini Stadium, Jarju’s lone goal proved enough to earn his side the final spot. Bakau will face Serrekunda West who eliminated their neighbours Serrekunda East on penalty shootouts after a barren draw in regulation time.
Bakau have ended their eight-year-wait to center the zonal championship final after their loss to Serrekunda East on penalties (5-4) following a goalless draw in 2014. The same is also true of Serrekunda West who will be playing in the final after seven-year-wait following their triumph in 2015 against Sukuta on penalty shootouts after a goalless draw.
The final will be on Saturday 31st December 2022 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium at 4 pm.
